Discovery Compass – Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions explain what to expect from us—and what we ask from you—during your rental experience.
- Rental Agreement
By booking and collecting a vehicle from Discovery Compass ("the Company"), you enter into a rental agreement that outlines the terms of use, your responsibilities as the renter, and our commitments to you as the provider.
- Driver Requirements
To rent a vehicle with us, all drivers must:
- Hold a valid driver's license for at least three years
- Present a valid passport or national ID
- For international renters outside the European Union (EU), an International Driving Permit (IDP) may be required.
- Vehicle Information and Usage
Suzuki Jimny
Ideal for light off-road use—perfect for coastal roads, national parks, and mountain villages. However, it is not intended for extreme off-roading or trails where ground clearance is insufficient.
Please avoid using the Jimny on difficult trails that may damage the undercarriage; otherwise, you will be held liable for the full damage costs.
Nissan Patrol
A powerful 4x4 designed for rugged terrain, suitable for more demanding off-road routes. Please drive responsibly and within local laws and the vehicle’s capabilities.
Speed Recommendation:
For both vehicle types, we suggest a maximum speed of 90 km/h, especially when equipped with rooftop tents. This speed ensures safe and comfortable travel to all destinations.
Vehicles may not be used for:
- Racing or competitions
- Transporting illegal goods
- Subrenting or commercial use
- Towing other vehicles
- Driving through rivers or deep water
- Extreme off-road conditions not suited to the vehicle
- Only drivers listed in the rental agreement are allowed to operate the vehicle.
- Payment and Deposit
We accept payment by:
- Visa and MasterCard (credit or debit)
- Cash (upon approval)
A refundable deposit of €500 is required for all rentals. This deposit is securely held during the rental period and returned upon the safe, undamaged return of the vehicle and gear, pending inspection.
- Fuel Policy
Vehicles are supplied with either a full or partially full tank. We ask that you return the vehicle with the same fuel level.
If the tank is returned lower than at pickup, a refueling charge will be applied based on current market rates.
- Allowed Kilometers and Travel Area
Unlimited kilometers are included for travel within Albania.
Cross-border travel is permitted with prior approval and may incur a cross-border fee, as well as additional charges per kilometer, depending on the destination, insurance requirements, and roadside assistance coverage.
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Coverage details vary based on the insurance option selected at booking. Please review your insurance package carefully.
Important:
- No insurance covers incidents resulting from driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. In such cases, the renter is fully responsible for all related costs. The same applies to damages resulting from gross negligence.
- GPS System, Safety & Roadside Assistance Features
All vehicles come pre-installed with a GPS tracking system as part of our commitment to your safety and smooth travel experience. This system helps us provide faster roadside assistance in case of breakdowns, ensures route accuracy, and enhances overall security during your rental.
- Real-time vehicle location tracking to assist in case of emergency or breakdown
- Faster support response for roadside assistance
- Peace of mind in remote or unfamiliar areas
Please note:
The GPS is for safety and service purposes only; it is not used to monitor personal driving habits unless in violation of rental terms (e.g., unauthorized areas or extreme off-road use).
Tampering with or disabling the GPS system is strictly prohibited and may result in additional fees or termination of the rental agreement.
In the event of an accident:
- Remain safe and call emergency services: 112
- Contact Discovery Compass immediately: +355 69 30 68 664
- Obtain a police report to document any incident
- If the police determine you are at fault, you will be responsible for a percentage of the damage costs based on the booked insurance.
- If you are not at fault and have the required police report, no payment is required.
- If no police report is obtained, you may be held liable for the full damage cost, regardless of fault.
In case of a breakdown:
- Please contact Discovery Compass immediately at +355 69 30 68 664.
- We will handle roadside assistance. No other party should be contracted to perform work or towing services.
- Use of Camping Gear and Accessories
Vehicles may come equipped with rooftop tents and camping gear. To ensure a pleasant experience for all customers:
- Use all gear responsibly (instructional videos will be sent via email before your rental period, and in-person guidance is also available)
- We will handle pressure washing the vehicle after use; however, please ensure all personal belongings are removed and all garbage is cleaned out
- Report any damage or missing items
- Replacement costs apply for lost or broken gear, except for normal wear and tear.
- Additional Drivers
Only registered drivers listed in the rental agreement may operate the vehicle.
An additional driver may be added for a fee of €4 per day, or €28 maximum per rental.
Each driver must meet the same requirements as the main renter.
- Vehicle Return
The vehicle must be returned:
- At the agreed time and location
- With all gear included
- In the presence of Discovery Compass staff
- Late returns, excessive dirt, or unscheduled drop-offs may result in additional charges.
- Traffic Violations and Fines
If you receive any fines during the rental period:
- Please notify us as soon as possible. Early payment discounts may apply, and if reported promptly, we can assist with payment at no additional charge.
- If a fine is received and not declared, we will charge the full penalty amount, any late fees, plus a €12 administration fee.
- Cancellations & No-Shows
- Free cancellation is available if made more than 24 hours before scheduled pickup.
- Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur a fee.
- If you do not arrive within 2 hours of your scheduled pickup time without notice, the reservation may be classified as a “no-show,” and no refund will be issued.
- Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. We use your information solely to provide our services and do not share your data with third parties.

- Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Albania.
Any legal disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of Albanian courts.

We may occasionally update these Terms and Conditions to improve our service or comply with regulations.
